So, I don’t post a lot of personal stuff. I do a little, and only if it really serves a purpose (like chilling stories from my youth on tumblr). There are a couple of reasons for this:
1. I think everyone’s got their own take on things, and while my perspective of my life might be interesting to me, I wonder if it’s pedestrian to most everyone else. I have one friend in my life who thinks I’m endlessly fascinating (and if you ever get a chance to have a friend like that, dear Lord, make sure you keep him or her). But – as my brother once advised me before going to college – I try to keep a low profile. History has proven that people can be wildly unpredictable, and truth be told, they make me kind of nervous.
2. For the last three years my life has been a steady stream of events that have increased exponentially in weirdness and difficulty. And while I’m at wizard-level in a game called Ceil’s Bizarre Life, quite frankly, no one needs to hear that shit. I can barely stand to hear myself talk about it, and it’s MY stuff.
That being said, I’ve changed the name of this blog from “Life in a Wingback Chair” (which I never really liked) to “Daily Ceil”, and it will contain things I find interesting and worthy of sharing. (Please note that my definition of “worthy” may vary widely.) They may at times be personal, and I’m not entirely certain how that’ll go with me.
I took down some posts that I felt were a little preachy – honestly, I have no idea where that soapbox came from. Generally, I don’t care that much, and I’m pretty much the least judgmental person you’ll know. Judging people feels mean, and I just don’t like the way it sounds, especially coming out of my mouth (laptop, cell phone, tablet, etc., etc.)
I will still keep the things I’ve learned about writing here, and I’ll make sure I categorize the other stuff appropriately.
Hope you like it. Come by and visit. I’ll make pie.
